What are Discipleship Groups?
Discipleship groups are different from our Life Groups because they are exclusive, rather than inclusive. Discipleship Groups are by invitation only. However, you can reach out and let us know if you have interest in being a part of a discipleship group. After reaching out, Pastor Michael will reach out to you and get more information from you.
While Life Groups at New Life can vary in size, Discipleship Groups are groups of 3-4 members. Discipleship Groups are gender specific as well. The men meet with men and the women meet with women. One of the key points of the Discipleship model is that “You can’t microwave disciples.” In other words, discipleship takes time. Discipling real people takes real time and intentional effort. We are seeking to become everyday disciples of Jesus. These groups accomplish this by memorizing scripture together, reading scripture together, and accountability.
Discipleship groups hinge on the willingness by each participant to be held accountable around the mutual desire to become the best follower of Jesus Christ that they can become. Discipleship groups will provide accelerated spiritual growth through the spiritual disciplines.
